Come on in

"Pe petikwe"...come on in! My latest and greatest hobby is learning the Metis language 'Michif'. Or, on a deeper level, trying to identify and connect to my Indian roots. Welcome to the pow-wow my friends! I've been inspired by a lot of ideas and a lot of people these days. Including a Facebook friend and a 'sista' who have boldly ventured into the 'blogging' world. I decided to get my feet wet and join in. Why not?! And we all know I have the time! I figured I might as well get learn-ed in something new and have a little fun during this personal 'off season' of mine. And I'm a Gemini...need I say more? We like to dabble in everything...'variety' is my middle name.

As for the title of the blog...it's birthplace is the barren prairie. My nearest and dearest friend and lover of the road and I came up with it on the longest and straighest piece of 'ash' (phalt) we'd ever encountered. We were under the influence of something we like to call "prairie eyes" (sung to the theme of 'Private Eyes' by Hall & Oates)...when "Ten Thousand Bugs On the Windshield" came to mind as the PERFECT title for a book about our lives! Lovers of the road, of road trips, of adventure...explorers of the world and of life...the road of life...yes! This was it! I'm sorry to say there is no book deal in the works so I am pleased to have found this title a new home. I feel a huge sense of relief that it is 'out there' (big *sigh*).

Well, time to start the day...the last of 2008 by the way. And I am one gal who is happy to see the year go and I'm not afraid to say it! Adios, vaminos, so long old pal. Here's one person who is excited about 2009 and 'her' year! Fresh starts and new beginnings...for all of us. Three cheers to that!

Happy New Year!
